This week's (not so long awaited) post #2

As overwhelming as the response to my last post has been (LOL), I've made the decision on my own to do the longer than usual Enchantia post. So without any further introductions here you are:

The next morning came soon enough, and as we walked back from breakfast, I kept thinking about what Mom and Dad had just said.
“Josh and Rick woke us up at one in the morning,” Mom said, joining us at the table with a cup of coffee. “I thought there was an earthquake! The ceilings were shaking, and I heard these horrible shrieks. It turns out they were having some kind of life-or-death battle- a scene from one of Josh’s silly comic books.”
“Never again, though,” Dad said, who just finished up a serving of pancakes, probably his second or third. “Next time that happens I told him no sleepovers for a month. When I was a kid that was unheard of. We were too afraid of our parents to do something like that at such a late hour.”
“But what amazes me more, Dave, is the kind of wild imagination Josh and his friend have. They were so in the moment I really think they forgot where they were and what hour it was.”
“Well luckily, Jilly, we have two mature twelve year-olds here, smart enough not to get carried away like that.”
Mom agreed with a nod and a smile.
Megan and I glanced at each other, then looked away.
“Is that glitter in your hair?” Mom asked.
I had made up the good excuse of an arts and crafts-related mishap, and didn’t think much about it. The glance was what bothered me as we walked back, because it was like we were admitting something neither of us would ever say. Without thinking I started running, and Megan mistook this for a race.

If you like these snippets and wanna read more (as in the whole novel), email your nearest literary agent for me, will ya? (Just kidding...unless you actually know someone...) It's not always easy being a wannabe novelist. Suddenly I'm picturing a very literary Kermit the Frog. And I'm gonna end this post before it gets any weirder.
